2 Year Olds

This is where the fun and learning begins. We provide a safe, stimulating and happy environment for our youngest pupils.  Staff constantly monitor the children carefully and provide exciting activities and opportunities to meet their needs, abilities and interests. These opportunities are carefully planned to incorporate a range of child-initiated learning and focused activities led by adults.

Learning about our feelings and emotions fosters our Spiritual Education development. We each made a Valentine’s Day card by coloring and mark making with chalks and then smudging it with our fingers. Then we mark made inside the card ready to give to our family. We were very proud of our cards!

We had lots of fun whilst we developed our skills and learned about such an important cause.

Also, this week we read the story ‘Dear Zoo’ and then went on an animal hunt! We took our animals into the hall to move like different types of animals. We are learning all about different ways in which we can move our bodies.

Our butterflies came out of their chrysalises this week. The children were amazed to see their transformation. We were lucky enough to see the butterflies closely, and some of the children could hold one if they desired.

We then took them outside in the nursery garden to release them gently and placed them onto some flowers. The children have shown great fascination throughout watching this life cycle.

The children had a wonderful day observing the ducklings closely and even handling them. The ducklings showed the children their fantastic swimming skills; the children watched with excitement and fascination as they swam around the water tray. After a fun-filled day, the ducklings were ready to return to their mummy duck for a well-deserved rest.

The rain last week didn’t stop the 2-Year-Olds having fun at the end of last half-term. We took advantage of the weather and went outside to jump in the puddles.

Staff enhanced this water activity by adding powder paints to the water for the children to explore. They even had access to the outside tap.

The children had lots of fun mark making using a range of tools. When using the paints on the ground, they found out that by mixing red and blue paint, it makes purple. The children also created their very own coloured puddles. It was a great session and lots of fun was had by all!

Number Day

For NSPCC Maths Day, the children in the 2-Year-Old room enjoyed looking at the song 5 Currant Buns in a Baker’s Shop. We then brought this story to life by providing props for the children to act out the song. The children enjoyed this interactive song and took turns to collect a bun when they brought their penny to the till.

Staff turned the kitchen area into a bakery where the children enjoyed serving and making their own tasty treats. They took turns to be the baker and enjoyed the added enhancements of a till and scales.

National Story Week

This week the children in the 2-Year-Old room have celebrated National Story Week by listening and acting out two of their favourite books, The Tiger Who Came to Tea and The Train Ride. The children sat beautifully for these interactive stories .

The tiger who came to our room certainly had a good feast, as props were provided to bring this story to life. All the children enjoyed taking turns to feed the tiger and give him a drink.🐯🐅🫖🍰🧁.

The children all held an object from The Train Ride story and enjoyed adding it to the interactive display as the story was read🐴🚂🐄🐏🏠.
